About me: "Alexander wept when he heard Anaxarchus’ discourse about an infinite number of worlds, and when his friends inquired what ailed him, ‘Is it not worthy of tears,’ he said, ‘that, when the number of worlds is infinite, we have not yet become lords of a single one?’ (Plutarch, De tranquillitate animi, 4)"........ ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ ‘The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner. Anyone who falls on this stone will be broken, and whoever the stone falls on will be crushed.' ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ How happy had it been for me had I been slain in the battle. It had been far more noble to have died the victim of the enemy than fall a sacrifice to the rage of my friends. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ the Oedipus Complex: Women always imagined for history's length that their competition is every woman around. Which is completely false. Who is the one female that leashed lions, hid cowards; the first breast a guy tastes, the first to bathe his nakedness and shame. The one person that traded her days to uphold his. The first female that defined beauty, love, hatred, sacrifice. A guy falls in love not because a woman is beautiful, or has a great personality, but because he saw her through the eyes of his mother. When a guy watches that Divine figure getting old, falling weak to sickness, he sees his own demise. Standing at that edge, a man becomes less of a god, and more of a decaying heap of compost. It is the ultimate betrayal, for why do gods have to die. When a man would spit at heaven's doors to run into hell for more than a tear for his mother's thirst; only to hopelessly hold her hand watching his world die through that fainting light in hers. The ultimate surrender. Just when the wife thinks she won life's ultimate game of irony, she's only getting leftovers. That competition was but one. The person that built the man she fell in love is no more, taking him away with her. For no woman can beat a guy's mother ailing frame, no grievance, no recourse. The wife lost that competition, wounded and unsung. Not by youth, accessories or endowment. That mother possessed the greatest power of all, the power of eternal existence, holding the strongest bond of all. Wounded and jealous, she copies that figure opting to become eternal one day through her own son. That adoring look her husband possessed only for his mother has become hers. She has become the person she envied/hated the most. She looks at her nursing son to tell his future wife-no competition-with a smile. For her ultimate love is no longer her husband's. Would a Virgin Mother telling her carpenter bachelor son to come down from a cross to go clean his room have altered a transcript, nay world history. The ultimate love meets the ultimate sacrifice by both. The devil asks a newly grieved son; would you take a ton of gold for your mother's last tear in a handkerchief? That answer defines gods from meaningless swine. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ "You've been weighed, you've been measured, and you've been found wanting" ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
